...plot twist...

Life is full of plot twists, and I’m pretty thankful for them.
Coming into the trip, hiking Mt Kilimanjaro was one of my “must-do”s. I packed all of my favorite hiking gear into my backpack and even invested in a GoPro Session so that we could capture the journey to one of the greatest peaks in the world. At the time nothing sounded more exhilarating than trekking that mountain for seven days and then zipping off to the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
Instead, we skipped our flight to Tanzania and moved into a room above a school / youth center called The Little Rose Centre. My view changed from mountains and beaches into miles of one-story shacks and barbed wire. And my two weeks waking up to this view are by far the highlight of this entire trip.

All of my favorite moments when traveling have come unexpectedly, I guess because they often revolve around meeting amazing people along the journey. It’s always difficult to describe these moments to family and friends back home; photos, historical anecdotes, and stories just don’t do justice in describing how a community of complete strangers can impact you so deeply and make you feel at home. I'm stoked for the day when I can bring my family / friends here to see the beauty of this place for themselves... For now, I'll be highlighting a few of the amazing humans from Little Rose that gave me a unique perspective on this crazy, crazy world. Check out the "Little Rose Centre" tab for more photos.
